Oblivious.
I guess it never really passed my mind that relationships actually require a lot of effort and hard work; I always thought they came easily to the people who were in them, but I was wrong.
I’ve never been in a relationship before, so going in to this, I expected everything to flow nicely and smoothly and then come to an abrupt end when we hit a rough patch. Fortunately, that’s not the way it worked out. I have come to realize that the relationship I’m in requires attention, patience, care, and understanding, and that I can’t just sit and watch it go by.
This realization is weird and I probably should have understood relationships sooner in life, but I’m glad I’m starting to understand them now.
